This is a leadership role — a chance to shape the strategic direction of one of Australia's most respected agricultural research organisations.
We're seeking a visionary leader with strong business acumen, people management skills, and insight of Australian agricultural production systems and agribusiness. You'll be someone who sees complexity as opportunity, and who thrives in environments where innovation, strategic thinking and managing strategic risks are essential.
Key Attributes:
* Leadership & Vision: Ability to inspire teams, drive strategic initiatives, and work collaboratively with the board to shape FAR Australia's future.
* Business Management: Skilled in budgeting, procurement, project portfolio oversight, and organisational growth.
* Agricultural Insight: A broad understanding of the agricultural sector—especially in applied RD&E and agribusiness—is highly valued.
* Portfolio management: Experience in cultivating productive relationships with our clients (Research and Development Corporations, government agencies, agribusiness and industry groups), designing RD&E projects to meet client and stakeholder needs and delivering high quality services.
* Commercial Mindset: Ideally, you'll bring experience from the private sector, with an ability to actively manage risk and seek opportunities for results.
* Established network: Proven ability to connect with individuals and organisations across the value chain in agriculture.
* Strategic Planning: Strategic vision to develop 2027–2032 strategic plan with the Board.
* Learning ability: Demonstrated continuous learning in your career, both formal and informal.
