IGii have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Product Development Engineer to join their rapidly expanding R&D department. As a senior member of the Sensors Engineering team, you'll lead the design, development and validation of innovative products and processes, partnering closely with internal and external stakeholders.

You'll work with some fantastic customers conducting research at the forefront of science and technology.
Your purpose in the Role:
You will own multiple product and process development projects from concept through to validated manufacture and transfer. Your main accountabilities will be:
* Product and Process Design and Development

What you will do and how you will succeed:
You will be responsible for creating alignment on project scope and milestones, making robust, data‐led decisions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and maintaining a high‐quality standard of prototyping capabilities and development practices across the team.
* Lead product and process development from concept through validation and transfer, applying expert knowledge of the iGii design process and strong project management principles
* Generate and present high‐quality design concepts for internal and customer approval, translating the voice of the customer into clear design inputs
* Build, test and de‐risk concepts using rapid prototyping, iGii manufacturing processes or qualified external partners
* Conduct feasibility assessments for new products and processes, including integration with existing systems and customer supply chains
* Oversee creation and approval of key documentation, including IQ/OQ/PQ, SOPs, SWPs, risk assessments and process flows
* Plan and execute complex multi‐input test programmes (DoE), analyse data using process excellence tools, and present clear, evidence‐based recommendations
* Manage multiple projects simultaneously defining scope, milestones and budgets; maintaining schedules; and providing timely status updates, issues and escalations
* Lead customer meetings and internal reviews, communicating progress, risks and decisions confidently
* Ensure rapid prototyping capability meets business needs, overseeing equipment, process health and continuous improvement, and training others in 3D prototyping
* Convert CAD designs into working prototypes using internal or external resources, ensuring strong design‐for‐manufacture principles
* Maintain excellent documentation in line with ISO 9001:2015 and the iGii NPI framework, contributing to continuous improvement of internal processes.
Who we are looking for:
* Degree‐qualified in a relevant engineering discipline (e.g., product design, mechanical, manufacturing, biomedical or related); a Master's degree is desirable
* Significant experience delivering product and/or process development in a professional engineering environment, including ownership of design reviews, validation and transfer to manufacture *
* Advanced 3D CAD capability with a strong design‐for‐manufacture mindset; proven ability to turn concepts into manufacturable solutions
* Track record leading multi‐disciplinary projects using strong project management principles; Six Sigma qualified is desirable
* Demonstrable experience planning and executing complex test programmes (DoE), analysing data with process excellence tools, and writing clear technical reports for decision‐making
* Hands‐on familiarity with prototyping and manufacturing techniques (e.g., 3D printing, CNC milling, injection moulding, laser cutting) and the judgement to select appropriate methods
* Deep understanding of quality systems and documentation practice such as ISO 9001:2015, IQ/OQ/PQ, SOPs, risk assessments, and good record‐keeping/GMP principles
* Excellent communication skills, with the confidence to present complex technical information clearly to senior stakeholders and customers
* Experience in training others in prototyping processes/equipment and raising the standard of engineering practice across the team is desirable
* Customer‐facing experience capturing the voice of the customer and translating it into precise design inputs and acceptance criteria is desirable
