Your Opportunity As a Mine Deputy, you will play a critical leadership and statutory role within the underground operation at Blackwood Mine.
This is a hands-on leadership position, combining statutory responsibilities with operational oversight and people leadership.
In this role, you will: Fulfil statutory obligations as a Mine Deputy, ensuring full compliance with legislative and safety requirements Lead and supervise crews of up to 10 employees, setting clear expectations and leading by example Take full accountability for safety, compliance, and production outcomes within your allocated work area Plan and coordinate production and maintenance activities to support safe, reliable coal supply Identify, address, and escalate non-compliances or hazards to the Undermanager as required Conduct thorough handovers to oncoming Deputies, ensuring continuity of safety and operational control Complete accurate shift reports and contribute to operational planning and improvement initiatives Work collaboratively with the Undermanager and fellow Deputies to achieve production, quality, cost, and resourcing targets aligned to the Mine Business Plan At Cement Australia, Mine Deputies are trusted operational leaders — not just compliance officers — and are integral to achieving safe, efficient, and sustainable outcomes underground.
