Water Monitoring Officer Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Water Monitoring Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all activities are undertaken with safety as the number one priority.
The role involves collecting, processing and managing hydrometric surface water, groundwater and water quality monitoring data from a large remote monitoring network. You will also be responsible for installing, managing and maintaining monitoring equipment and infrastructure to prescribed standards.
Your key responsibilities will include:
* Collecting water quality samples as requested by internal or external stakeholders within assigned sites and in accordance with quality guidelines and relevant procedures.
* Reporting on the performance of water monitoring sites from telemetered/non-telemetered datasets and seeking instrumentation advice to identify/resolve issues.
* Contribute to continual improvement of the implementation and maintenance of quality assurance systems, audit programs and development of work instructions and procedures.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* An undergraduate degree or Diploma of Water Industry Operations, Science, Engineering, Asset Management, or equivalent experience in an appropriate field.
* Competent knowledge and use of various tools including battery operated tools and general tools used in the construction industry.
* A current NSW Drivers Licence.
* Awareness of and interest in natural resource management, particularly water.
* Computer literacy and ability to interpret data, work with specialist databases and monitor network performance.
