About Capital Design Works
Capital Design Works designs, manufactures and installs premium custom joinery and gaming environments for clubs, pubs and casinos across NSW, QLD and VIC. We operate an in-house manufacturing facility and deliver end-to-end projects from concept through to installation.
We’re expanding our estimating capability so our sales team can stay in front of clients while quotes are produced faster, cleaner, and with stronger margin control.
The role
This is a hands-on Joinery Estimator & Proposals role focused on take-offs, supplier pricing, scope clarity, and building professional proposals that win the right work at the right margin.
You will work closely with sales, drafting, scheduling and production to ensure jobs are quoted accurately and handed over cleanly—without the chaos.
Location: Revesby
Type: Full-time
Experience level: Intermediate–Senior
What you’ll be doing
* Prepare accurate estimates for custom commercial joinery and fitout projects.
* Complete take-offs from drawings/specs and identify gaps before they become problems.
* Obtain and compare supplier/subcontractor quotes (hardware, finishes, stone, glass, electrical allowances, install, freight).
* Build clear, professional proposals that define:
o inclusions/exclusions
o assumptions
o lead times
o delivery/installation scope
o variation rules and allowances
* Create and maintain pricing tools:
o rate cards, standard assemblies, margin rules, freight/travel zone allowances
* Work in a custom pricing system to build quotes, track revisions and support job handover.
* Improve quote turnaround time and proposal quality without sacrificing accuracy.
* Support sales with the numbers and structure—you’re not expected to cold call.
* Manage joinery builder contracts for awarded work: review contract requirements, confirm scope alignment, manage departures/clarifications, support progress claims, and ensure variations are documented and approved before work proceeds.
What we’re looking for
Must-haves
* Proven estimating experience in joinery, shopfitting, cabinetry, or commercial fitout.
* Strong understanding of materials, hardware, finishes, manufacturing realities and installation constraints.
* Excellent attention to detail and ability to spot scope gaps early.
* Strong written communication: you can produce proposals that are clear, firm and professional.
* Comfortable working at pace and managing multiple tenders/jobs without losing control.
Highly regarded
* SimPro experience (or similar estimating/job management systems).
* Ability to build and maintain templates, rate cards, standard inclusions/exclusions, and pricing libraries.
* Experience dealing with builder packages/contracts (and knowing what to push back on).
* Basic CAD/drawing literacy (enough to interpret drawings accurately).
Why join us
* You’ll work with a capable in-house team where your estimates directly impact profitability and delivery performance.
* Complex, high-quality commercial work (not repetitive residential quoting).
* A business investing in structure and process—your work will be supported, not ignored.
* Real authority to improve how quoting is done, not just “pump out numbers”.
How to apply
Send:
* Resume, and
* A short note covering:
o Your joinery/fitout estimating background
o Typical project values you’ve quoted
o The estimating system/software you’ve used (SimPro, Excel, etc.)
If you have a de-identified sample proposal or estimate format, include it.
