Offer description

The Centre for Forensic Behavioural Science (CFBS) is Australasia’s leading centre for excellence in the areas of forensic mental health and forensic behavioural science research, teaching and practice development. The CFBS, in partnership with the Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare, and researchers from Monash University and Southern Cross University, have received funding from Australia’s National Organisation for Women’s Safety (ANROWS) for a project examining pathways into young people’s use of family violence, especially the influence of experiencing childhood maltreatment and trauma.

We are seeking a Research Fellow to join our innovative team to undertake research and assist the research team with the coordination and management of the research project.
The project takes a mixed-methods approach featuring a quantitative study using existing linked administrative data from Child Protection, Victoria Police, and other services to undertake the first population-based prospective longitudinal analysis of the pathways from childhood maltreatment to Adolescent Family Violence (AFV). Along with a second qualitative study featuring the co-creation of an integrated and trauma-informed explanatory framework of AFV through in-depth semi-structured interviews with young people who have engaged in these behaviours, to inform interventions to reduce these behaviours.

As the Research Fellow, you will support the team of Chief Investigators with overall project administration, set up, and delivery, as well as to conduct interviews and assist with analyses related to the qualitative study.

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:
