Strathmore Secondary College – Location
Strathmore Secondary College is situated between Pascoe Vale Road and the Moonee Ponds Creek in the northern suburb of Strathmore.
Founded in ****, the school now serves approximately 2,000 students from Strathmore Heights, Pascoe Vale and Essendon.
The school employs around 290 teaching and non-teaching staff and is organised into six vertically structured teams covering Years 7–12.
Core teachers support a range of subjects and coordinators work closely with students, teachers and parents to foster positive relationships and support learning outcomes.
Strathmore Secondary College offers strong academic programmes, a robust arts and sport culture and a well-developed international student program.
A 1:1 Bring Your Own Device scheme and a Visible Learning certification (awarded ****) underpin the school's high-performance culture and evidence-based instruction.
Key facilities include the Victorian Space Science Education Centre (VSSEC), a specialist science centre that contributes to professional development for teachers and enriches the school curriculum.
Role
The Classroom Teacher is responsible for the planning, preparation and delivery of high-quality teaching to achieve specific student outcomes.
Teachers reflect critically, engage in professional learning and support students' academic, personal and social development.
Classroom Teachers may be classified at Range 1 or Range 2.
Those in Range 2 include additional leadership responsibilities such as mentoring alongside classroom duties and contributing to strategic planning.
All Classroom Teachers may undertake further duties where appropriate, based on their salary range, qualifications, training and experience.
Responsibilities
Deliver direct teaching to student groups and individual learners.
Contribute to the development, implementation and evaluation of curriculum areas.
Undertake other classroom teaching and organisational duties as directed.
Participate in parent/teacher meetings, staff meetings, camps and excursions.
Selection Criteria
SC1Demonstrated knowledge of the relevant curriculum, including literacy and numeracy skills, and evidence of responding to student learning needs.
SC2Planned and implemented high-impact teaching strategies guided by how students learn, and evaluated impact on learning growth.
SC3Monitored and assessed student learning using data to inform practice and provided feedback to students and parents.
SC4Displayed interpersonal and communication skills, and built collaborative relationships with students, parents, colleagues and the wider community.
SC5Demonstrated behaviours and attitudes consistent with Department values, reflecting on practice and engaging in professional learning.
Who May Apply
Registered or eligible to register with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach the specified curriculum area(s).
