About the Opportunity
Gardner Vaughan Group is seeking a Construction People & Performance Manager to join our team in this newly created, autonomous role. You will own and lead the end-to-end recruitment, performance, and people-delivery outcomes specifically for the Construction arm of GVG.
GVG is a rapidly expanding building developer with 37 years of experience and a growing market presence in the SEQ. Our commitment to excellence extends beyond our projects – we value the communities we create, our relationships with stakeholders, and most importantly, our staff.
Reporting directly to the CEO, you will work closely with the Head of Operations & People, Projects Director and Construction Managers to ensure our workforce plan aligns with site and project needs. This is a critical role designed to move GVG forward in the "Talent Engine," space ensuring our project teams are high-performing and well-supported.
Key Responsibilities
As the dedicated People & Performance lead for Construction, your accountabilities will include:-
* Workforce Planning & Talent Acquisition - You will build and execute a rolling Construction Workforce Plan, collaborating with Project Managers to forecast needs for roles such as PMs, CAs, Site Managers, and Foremen. You will own the full recruitment lifecycle, from headhunting and talent pooling to offers and start plans
* Performance Management & Coaching - You will lead the performance lifecycle for the construction department
* Coaching - A key part of this role involves coaching Construction leaders on documentation standards and effective performance conversations
* Employee Relations & Compliance - Acting as the first point of contact for Construction people matters
* Onboarding & Culture - You will own the Construction onboarding experience
* Reporting & Continuous Improvement - You will maintain a Construction People Dashboard to track metrics, using this data to identify opportunities that strengthen and improve recruitment and performance tools
About You
To be successful in this role, you must have experience within the construction or project-based environments. We are looking for a professional who is not just a recruiter, but a well-rounded HR practitioner with a strength in performance and employee relations.
Required Capability and Experience:-
* 5–10+ years in HR or People roles, with significant exposure to construction environments.
* Demonstrated expertise in both Talent Acquisition and Performance/ER.
* Tertiary qualification in HR or similar
* The ability to coach senior project leaders and remain calm under the pressures of a fast-paced construction environment
* High level of documentation discipline and a working knowledge of Australian employment obligations relevant to the construction industry
* A proactive mindset, with the ability to operate autonomously while staying aligned with group-wide HR systems and governance
