Job Opportunity: Play Therapist
We are seeking an experienced and skilled Play Therapist to join our multidisciplinary team.
The successful candidate will have experience working with children and families, providing individual and family-based play therapy and counselling. They will be able to build strong relationships with parents and carers, developing empathic and connected relationships.
The ideal candidate will possess a human-affirming approach, conducting comprehensive assessments to develop individualised treatment plans and goals. They will also have the ability to collaborate with parents, caregivers and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to client care.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide individual and family-based play therapy and counselling to support the emotional, behavioural and mental health needs of children and young people.
* Build strong relationships with Parents and Carers, developing individualised, empathic and connected relationships.
* Be 'human affirming' in your approach.
* Conduct comprehensive assessments to develop individualised treatment plans and goals.
* Collaborate with parents, caregivers and other professionals to ensure a holistic approach to client care.
* Potential opportunities to facilitate group therapy sessions and workshops.
* Maintain case notes and client records in accordance with professional standards.
* Participate in regular supervision and professional development to ensure best practice.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
* Tertiary qualifications as a Mental Health Social Worker, Psychologist or other qualification allowing for Medicare Rebates.
* Membership with relevant professional associations.
* Demonstrated experience in providing therapeutic interventions to children, young people and families.
* Strong knowledge of child development, neurodiversity (including Autism, ADHD and PDA), play therapy and family systems.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with clients of all ages.
* Capacity to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
* Ability to organise a caseload, attract referrals and fill your calendar.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.
* A current Working with Children Check (Vic) and National Police Check are required.
