Position Information
Sylvania High School is a comprehensive high school located in the Sutherland Shire and residing on the land of the Dharawal speaking people. The student population is approximately 750 with approximately 35% EAL/D students. The staff are committed to sustaining a positive learning culture that has ensured the school is highly valued by the community. Our school has a well-established reputation for outstanding academic, performing & creative arts and sporting achievements.
The school has highly successful leadership, wellbeing and activism programs that enable students to develop their skills to be well prepared for the world beyond school. The school's core values of respect and responsibility resonate across and within learning and wellbeing programs and the curriculum encourages students to develop essential skills for now and into the future, promoting both personal and interpersonal dispositions for learning. The school has a Support Unit with three Autism (AU) classes, and one Intellectually Moderate and Autism (I/O, AU) class. Selection Criteria
* Successful teaching experience and approval to teach Engineering Studies with approval and/or willingness to teach Industrial Technology Timber.
* Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills that build positive and productive working relationships with students, staff and parents.
* Evidence of effective classroom practice that includes the ability to cater for students with a diverse range of learning needs through differentiated curriculum and classroom management.
* Demonstrated ability to work as a collaborative member of the TAS faculty and contribute to faculty programs and initiatives.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
