Job Summary : The Design Manager is a key individual helping the Delivery Partner's (DPs) role in providing Project Management services and deliverables.
In performing this role, the Design Manager will be familiar with the contract terms, scope, and requirements and will work as part of the broader DP package management team to fulfil the DP obligations.
Major Responsibilities: Responsible for planning, coordinating and directing civil/structural activities and has technical accountability for interpreting, organizing, and coordinating the road and associated services engineering work on the project.
Works within an integrated project management team and is accountable for the timely delivery of the design work packages developed by 3rd party engineering consultants and/or design and construct contractors.
Coordinates review and acceptance of 3rd Party produced design documents.
Coordinates supply of technical information to the designer to allow the programme to progress.
Reviews major changes or deviations in project scope, project material quantities, budget or schedule, and assists particularly with defining the change.
Experienced in providing a lead technical role over other architectural professionals or project subgroups for completing specific tasks.
Knowledge and experience of the complex interfaces with large infrastructure projects and the detailed design prepared by multiple design contractors on projects.
Keeps informed on the status of all project issues involving assigned personnel with respect to schedule, budget, work quality and contributes leadership, experience and expertise in the solution of difficult problems.
Manages the work efforts of managers or professionals.
Education and Experience Requirements: Typically requires bachelor's or master's degree (or international equivalent) and ***** years of relevant experience or ***** years of relevant work experience.
Thorough knowledge of discipline engineering techniques, the design of engineered systems, and engineering and design calculations.
Required Knowledge and Skills: Must have strong highway industry experience, experience in Australia preferred.
Experience managing design efforts including management of 3rd Party designers or engineers as part of a large infrastructure project.
Ability to engage in a collaborative working environment with internal and external stakeholders.
Broad knowledge of highway industry/regulatory codes and standards, project controls and design criteria in all engineering disciplines.
Technical knowledge of engineering systems, engineering calculations, applications of engineering methods and materials and applications of building information modelling, 3-D computer-aided design (CAD) and computer-aided engineering (CAE) to engineering problems.
Proficient knowledge of activities and operations in other functions including construction, environmental safety and health (ES
