An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Receptionist to join the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital team.

The mission of Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital is to rescue, repair, rehabilitate and release sick, injured and orphaned Australian native animals. The hospital operates as an emergency wildlife hospital 24 hours a day – 365 days per year, admitting more than 10,000 sick, injured and orphaned native animals annually.
The hospital seeks to provide gold standard care for native wildlife by continuously improving, researching and developing new and innovative solutions for treating a large variety of species and problems. The hospital also plays a significant role in educating visitors and influencing changes in people’s behaviour to assist conservation worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Answer phone calls and assist members of the public or carers entering the area; assist with coordination of medical treatment and care of sick, injured, and orphaned wildlife within the Australia Zoo Wildlife Hospital. This role reports to the Office Manager and Hospital Manager.
- Monitor the phones and answer wildlife calls.
- Assist with scheduling appointments for local and interstate wildlife rehabilitators and carers.
- Assist with admitting emergency patients by liaising with the Triage Nurse.
- Assist with entering and updating Wildlife Accession data and koala records.
- Assist with Donations – response and thank you letters for donated equipment and consumables.
- Assist with monthly reports for wildlife rehabilitators to obtain final outcomes on animals.
- Assist with updating the animal intake database.
- Update wildlife carer permits and status in the Accession database.
- Process customer counter sales and cash reconciliation.
- Perform other duties as requested by the Office Manager or Hospital Manager.
Qualifications
- Experience within a similar role or background.
- Driver's Licence and reliable transport.
- Available to work weekends, public holidays, and school holiday periods.
- Good interpersonal and communication skills.
- Organisational and time management skills.
