About The Opportunity
We are seeking a Clinical Nurse Consultant to join the team at John Hunter Hospital. The successful candidate will have experience delivering high-quality, person-centred care across the Hunter New England Local Health District. This role focuses on improving access to HIV education, testing, prevention, and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for Medicare-ineligible communities, helping to reduce barriers to essential services. Working closely with a multidisciplinary team across Newcastle, Taree, and Tamworth, If you're an experienced Sexual Health Nurse looking for the next step in your career, this could be the role for you!
What You Will Be Doing
This position offers a unique opportunity to deliver meaningful, community-focused care across three clinic sites, working one day per week alongside a dedicated team of nurses. You will play a key role in planning and delivering outreach services to priority populations, including visiting remote workplaces such as farms and abattoirs. With a strong focus on engagement and accessibility, the role involves developing safe, effective strategies to connect with hard-to-reach communities and ensure they receive the care and support they need.
About You
* Proven clinical leadership skills and an ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary framework with demonstrated evidence of the use of critical thinking as it relates to the delivery of advanced evidenced based nursing care.
* Hold a current NSW Driver's license and a willingness to travel in accordance with the demands of the position.
* Current Authority to Practice as a Registered Nurse with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Have a least 5 years full time equivalent post registration experience and approved post registration nursing/midwifery qualifications relevant to Sexual Health, or such other qualifications or experience deemed appropriate.
