About the role
Enerven is leading the delivery of some of the most significant energy projects in Australia. From the 480 MWh Summerfield BESS connection and the Hydrogen Jobs Plan 275 kV connection in South Australia, to the 2.8 GWh Eraring BESS and the 500 kV Goulburn River Solar Farm connection work in New South Wales, Enerven is providing the critical infrastructure needed to drive Australia's renewable energy transition.
With extensive knowledge and experience in the power sector, Enerven collaborates with utilities across Australia, having panel agreements with TransGrid, and is the maintenance and service provider for ElectraNet. We also partner with developers including Origin, AGL, Wartsila, Fluence & Tesla.
We are looking for a Principal Design Consultant to take on a strategic, senior role within our engineering delivery team. This person will offer expert technical guidance, mentorship, and risk‑management strategies, while staying current with industry trends and emerging technologies to drive innovative design solutions for Enerven's high‑value, high‑risk projects over $50 M.
You will play a key role in delivering value‑driven engineering solutions during bid development and early works, supporting the Head of Bids and Proposals and the Manager of Engineering Delivery. Their expertise in Substation Automation and Cyber Security will be a critical differentiator for Enerven in a competitive market.
The role will be critical to:
* Execution of the Enerven growth strategy by de‑risking strategic and major projects solutions during the tender and bid development phases.
* Mentoring of Senior and Junior Design Managers.
* Provision of a centre of excellence for the development of engineering value‑adding solutions.
* Development and implementation of efficiency opportunities for high performance and sustainable long‑term engineering solutions.
About you
Enerven is seeking a candidate with approximately 20 years of experience in renewables, electrical infrastructure and utilities, with a strong background in concept design, tenders and bid support. The ideal person will also have expertise in Secondary Systems, Protection, SCADA and Industrial Cybersecurity, and a proven ability to deliver innovative, value‑adding engineering solutions.
Specific qualifications and experience required include:
* Degree in Engineering, Chartered Member of Institute of Engineers, Australia
* Specialised cross‑discipline technical expertise within substation, transmission, BESS or Wind engineering with particular strength in protection, automation or security systems
* Schedule, cost and risk management
* EPC or contracting backgroundEngineering or design management mentoring
