About Your New Role
As part of the Mental Health Casual Administration pool you will have an unique opportunity to work in a diverse range of settings throughout Newcastle, Lake Macquarie, and the Hunter Valley regions.
These settings include acute inpatient units, community services, and support teams. Successful candidates will provide relief for permanent administration staff, covering both planned leave and unexpected short-notice shifts. The casual pool supports over 20 different roles, so the ability to quickly learn various systems and processes is essential.
Key responsibilities include customer service and record maintenance using a range of clinical and corporate IT systems.
Staff receive extensive training, starting with mandatory corporate training and online training for required IT systems. This is followed by face-to-face, on-the-job training using a buddy system. Additionally, there are well-documented processes and guides to support staff as they transition between different casual placements.
About You
We see our Casual Administration staff as an investment, so ultimately we are looking for candidates who are committed to remaining on the casual pool for a minimum of at least 12 months to learn the various roles available. Our casual pool is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to develop strong core administrative skills, take on challenges, learn new skills, solve problems, resolve conflicts, and accept constructive feedback.
Candidates must also understand the nature of casual work, which requires flexibility in the number of rostered hours and open availability for blocks of work. While prior experience in Mental Health Services is not necessary, an understanding of the challenges associated with working in an acute mental health setting is crucial.
