The role
Reporting to the Design for Cost Manager, you will operate within a collaborative R&D environment to develop innovative design alternatives that improve cost efficiency, while ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
In this role, you will:
* Lead cost down projects, including developing project plans and meeting key milestones
* Develop detailed engineering designs to support cost reduction initiatives, conforming to durability, performance and manufacturability requirements
* Plan and execute validation activities including prototype build, testing and evaluation
* Support and lead cost-down initiatives in overseas manufacturing plants
* Liaise with local and overseas suppliers regarding alternative sourcing requirements
* Collaborate with Manufacturing, Quality, Service, Procurement, and Marketing to support cost‐down design initiatives across the product lifecycle
* Report progress of cost‐down projects to management
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
* A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
* Experience in a product design or R&D engineering role
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Strong problem-solving skills with a self-motivated 'can-do' approach to work
* Demonstrated experience in delivering on engineering projects
* Strong 3D CAD modelling skills with Inventor or SolidWorks
* Experience working with Australian and International Standards
* Proven stake holder management skills.
* Experience in FMEA and MS Project
* Experience in CA PPM, SAP (desirable)
* Knowledge in water heater technology, materials sciences, electrical/electronic design (desirable)
