About the role AHP2: The Physiotherapist provides neurodevelopmental assessments for children and young people using a range of standardise tools. Further, the physiotherapist collaborates with the multidisciplinary team in formulation of differential diagnoses and intervention planning. AHP3 : The Senior Physiotherapist provides culturally appropriate, high-quality assessments for children with complex neurodevelopmental issues, specialising in autism, developmental delay, and motor disorders. The Senior Physiotherapist works within a multidisciplinary team to lead diagnosis, intervention, supervision, and service improvement. Key duties of the role AHP2: Provides neurodevelopmental physiotherapy assessments for children and young people as part of a multidisciplinary team. Utilises standardise assessment tools in neurodevelopmental physiotherapy Liaise closely with other disciplines involved in client care by exchanging assessment. Make recommendations on the most appropriate intervention(s) and/or follow up services for the children assessed. Enhance the parent/caregivers and individuals understanding of developmental difficulties. Maintain professional records in accordance with the unit and hospital guidelines. AHP3: Provide comprehensive neurodevelopmental physiotherapy assessment for children and young people presenting with developmental differences Apply specialist professional expertise in the provision of timely assessment, diagnosis and prognosis, and provision of recommendations. Provide a range of service delivery models that are strongly grounded in the best available evidence. Provide expert information regarding funding options for assessment and support. Develop and review relevant resource materials. Utilise clinical expertise to develop and provide relevant education sessions to staff. Skills and Experience AHP2: Appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration with the Physiotherapy Board of Australia and with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Experience in working as part of a multidisciplinary assessment team working with children, adolescents and their caregivers. Experience in assessing children who present with features of neurodevelopmental disorders. Knowledge of relevant Physiotherapy and paediatric theories and models. Ability to assess the neurodevelopmental skills of children of varying ages and abilities. AHP3 : An appropriate Degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as a Physiotherapist with the Australian Physiotherapy Association and with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). Minimum of 5 years clinical experience working as a paediatric physiotherapist. Demonstrated competence in administering assessment tools in the diagnosis of gross motor, praxis, balance, coordination, locomotor skills, object handling difficulties and disorders. Extensive knowledge and understanding of standard diagnostic systems and guidelines. Ability to undertake specialist assessment of infants, children and young people with complex developmental problems and to understand highly complex clinical presentations.
