PASTORAL CO-ORDINATOR – 30 Hours per week
* 12 Month Fixed Term Contract with possibility of extension
* 9.00 am to 4.00 pm - Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday
* 4 hours weekend work (Saturday or Sunday) – as required
The Holy Trinity Parish is a well-respected, dynamic and vibrant parish in the South‐Eastern suburbs of Melbourne. It comprises three worship centres: St Peter's, East Bentleigh, St Paul's Bentleigh, and St Catherine's Moorabbin. The goal of our Pastoral Coordinator is to assist the Parish Priest, Assistant Priests, and Pastoral Assistants in inspiring and spreading Christ's love and welcoming all into our Parish community.
Key Accountabilities Liturgy
* Work with Parish Liturgical Teams to prepare Mass materials (commentaries, prayers of the faithful, Power Point slides) for the 7 weekend Masses across three centres;
* Support Liturgical Teams, Mass coordinators, and Music providers in their assigned work;
* Plan with the Parish Priest ceremonies for the church's major liturgical seasons;
* Plan and develop training programmes for volunteers in the liturgical area.
Funerals
* Coordinate funeral arrangements;
* Meet with families and assist in preparing the funeral ceremony.
Sacraments
* Facilitate RCIA and RCIC activities with volunteer support;
* Oversee preparations for baptisms and assist in marriage preparation;
* Liaise with Parish RELs regarding the school‐based sacramental programme.
Community Outreach
* Coordinate pastoral visitation programmes and distribution of Holy Communion;
* Oversee outreach initiatives for new and re‐engaging established parishioners.
Faith Formation & Volunteer Coordination
* Support volunteer‐led Alpha, Catholic Kids, and Adult faith formation programmes;
* Coordinate volunteer recruitment, training and support programmes;
* Ensure safeguarding compliance, maintain records, and prepare reports for the Parish Bulletin.
Leadership & Team Coordination
* Coordinate and supervise duties of the two Pastoral Assistants based on parish needs;
* Attend regular meetings with Parish Priest, Pastoral Assistants and Administration staff;
* Manage pastoral programme budget and quality standards.
Weekend Masses
* Support the Sunday worship community and enhance their involvement in Parish Life;
* Be the first point of contact for pastoral initiatives and pastoral needs coming in and out of parish life.
What You Bring
* A practising and committed Catholic;
* Relevant qualifications in theology and/or pastoral studies;
* Experience in leadership in a Parish environment;
* Effective communication and organisational skills;
* Demonstrable computer skills (Microsoft Office, Pacem system helpful);
* Current Driver's Licence and vehicle;
* Working with Children and Police check;
* Capability and willingness to develop effective working relationships with the Parish Priest, Associate Priests, staff and volunteers;
* Excellent interpersonal skills with healthy, professional boundaries.
