What is the role?
Applications are sought from suitably qualified applicants wishing to be considered for positions in Internal Audit, Organisational Performance, and Risk and Assurance roles in the Australian Federal Police's (AFP) Strategy and Performance Office (SPO), at the Band 5 (Team member) level.
SPO is focused on ideas, influence, and insights, and maximises AFP operational impact by translating the agency's strategic intent into whole-of-AFP activity and providing influence with Government and key external stakeholders. SPO plays a critical role in managing enterprise priorities, nurturing strategic thinking into reforms and resourcing, and facilitating strong enterprise decision-making.
Within SPO, the Internal Audit, Organisational Performance, and Risk and Assurance teams facilitate quality advice and business intelligence to AFP executives.

What will you do
Internal Audit
The AFP's Internal Audit team is dedicated to working across the breadth of the AFP to improve operations and facilitate the provision of independent assurance to the Commissioner that the AFP's controls are designed to manage a variety of organisational risks. As part of a team, and under the direction of an Internal Audit Team Leader, Internal Audit team members are required to:
Contribute to all phases of producing an audit, assurance or advisory product including planning, fieldwork, and reporting.
Prepare analysis of the extent to which the agency meets policies, procedures and legislative requirements and identify opportunities for improvement.
Assist in the preparation of written communication and draft reports to summarise audit/project scope and communicate key findings and outcomes.
Liaise with AFP Business Areas regarding audit requests, including the implementation of audit and review recommendations.
Support procurement and contract management activities.
Undertake research to support the work of the Internal Audit team and assist with other team priorities as required.
Support the activities of the Audit and Risk Committee Secretariat.
Organisational Performance
The AFP's Organisational Performance team is focused on supporting strategic and evidence-based decision-making by AFP executives through the development of the AFP's Corporate Plans and Annual Reports, and through the proactive evolution of the AFP's performance framework.
