Responsibilities: As Compliance Officer, you will be responsible for ensuring the organisation meets its legal, regulatory, and ethical obligations. Key responsibilities include:
- Oversee compliance with AML/CTF requirements under applicable legislation and rules.
- Take day-to-day ownership of the AML/CTF program, including initial and ongoing risk assessments.
- Provide regular reporting to senior leadership on compliance status, highlighting any issues or non-compliance.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of AML/CTF policies, procedures, and frameworks.
- Ensure appropriate KYC processes are in place and consistently followed by staff.
- Deliver and maintain staff training on AML/CTF obligations, updating content as regulations evolve.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for regulatory bodies, including managing reports, supporting audits, and liaising on compliance matters.
- Address feedback from regulators to strengthen the AML/CTF program and manage potential risks effectively.
What you'll need to succeed:
- Experience in an AML/CTF role (experience with policies, regulatory requirements, exposure to the AML reforms) within a law firm, financial institution or qualified services organisation is desirable.
- Being a qualified lawyer is preferred but not essential.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated research skills and familiarity with online research tools.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
This role is part of the management team and will be office-based full time (Melbourne), five days a week.
