Royal Darwin and Palmerston Hospital is the principle tertiary hospital within the region and provides a broad range of referral services in all specialist areas to Darwin, the Top End of the NT, Western Australia and South-East Asia.
Currently, the Royal Darwin Hospital is inviting applicants with a Fellowship in Maxillofacial Head and Neck Surgery to join their team for a 12-month placement starting in February 2026.
Under the direction of Assoc Professor, Mahiban Thomas, Head of Maxillofacial Head and Neck Surgery, you will further develop your specialist skills through hands-on learning, facial trauma management and head and neck malignancy care.
Your key duties will include participating in and supervising the assessment, management and discharge of patients under the supervision of the Maxillofacial Head and Neck Surgeon, participating in operations in theatre and the departments 24-hr on-call roster. In addition, you will be given the opportunity to conduct research, peer review practices and continued Medical Education.
To be successful you are required to be eligible for appropriate registration with the Medical Board of Australia, hold a Fellowship of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons or its equivalent, have relevant training and experience in Head and Neck Onco-surgery, and demonstrated research capability and commitment to delivering high-quality care to patients.
