Accounts Receivable Officer role at Alfred Health

Alfred Health is a leader in health care delivery, improvement, research and education. We are the main provider of health services to people living in the inner southeast suburbs of Melbourne, from ambulatory to inpatient and home and community-based services. On 1 January 2026, Alfred Health will merge with Bayside Health across several health services, creating a larger organisation with expanded opportunities. Subject to final approval, all employees from the five health services will transfer to Bayside Health.

About The Team

The Financial Services Department provides financial and related services to all areas of Alfred Health, including financial accounting and compliance, finance business partnering, financial analysis, decision support and transactional services (including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and Revenue Services). The department acts as a trusted advisor across Alfred Health and the broader Health Sector.

About The Role

Reporting to the Accounts Receivable Supervisor, the Accounts Receivable Officer is responsible for the effective management and collection of all patient and sundry debt. The role works closely with the Billing and Financial Control teams and may interact with other teams and departments. Regular interaction with patient, government and commercial entities is required to achieve strategic objectives and meet performance targets.

Skills & Experience

- Demonstrated experience in customer service or administration within a complex health service, particularly in a heavily regulated environment
- Experience in delivering commercial and/or consumer collection services within a complex organisation
- Experience in data manipulation and statistical analysis of large datasets
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to meet competing deadlines
- Analytical and problem-solving abilities in data interpretation
- High level interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build productive relationships
- Understanding of Credit/Collections legislation, especially privacy and debt collection
- Ability to deliver a responsive and flexible service to stakeholders
- Demonstrated ability to work accurately in a team
- Good computer and database skills, including health and office software (iPM, Cerner, Pathnet, GERIS, ARIA, Firstnet, iPharm, GP, MS Word, MS Excel, Outlook)
- Ability to meet performance indicators and take responsibility for tasks
- Demonstrated ability to establish productive working relationships within and beyond organisational boundaries
- Commitment to high-level customer service
