Description About the Role Downer is seeking proactive and reliable Site Caretakers/Handypersons to oversee daily operations and maintenance. These hands-on roles are responsible for managing contractors, maintaining building standards, and ensuring a clean, safe, and operational school environment year-round. The sites we currently have vacancies are : Mark Oliphant College - Full Time position Monday to Friday Roma Mitchell Secondary College - Full Time position Monday - Friday Blair Athol North School - Part Time position Monday - Friday 2pm-6pm You’ll be the on-the-ground leader, coordinating trades and services to meet contract specifications while upholding the highest safety and quality standards. Key Responsibilities Supervise and coordinate daily site operations including cleaning, grounds keeping, and general maintenance Manage contractor access and ensure work is completed safely and to Downer standards Conduct routine inspections, stocktakes, and audits to ensure compliance with service agreements Monitor and report on equipment use, maintenance issues, and site safety Assist with closing responsibilities and out-of-hours events on a rotating roster Maintain strong communication with school staff, service providers, and management Uphold OH&S protocols and lead a culture of safety on-site About you: Previous experience in site, facility, or contractor management (desirable) Background in maintenance, cleaning, or building operations Strong organisational and time management skills Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Physically fit and comfortable with manual handling tasks Working knowledge of health and safety practices Ability to work flexible hours and rotating shifts (Full Time) Requirements: Current SA Driver’s Licence (mandatory) SA Police Clearance and Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain) Willingness to complete Downer training modules and a pre-employment medical assessment Downer Group is an employer that acknowledges and embraces the importance of our people's diverse experiences, talents, and cultures.
