The Parliament of South Australia consists of two Houses - the House of Assembly (Lower House) and the Legislative Council (Upper House) - and the Joint Parliamentary Service.
The principal functions of the Parliament of South Australia are:
* provision of responsible Government in the tradition of the Westminster system,
* representation of the people,
* passage of legislation,
* approval of finance for government operations and
* monitoring and scrutiny of government administration and expenditure.
Administratively, the employees of both Houses support the functioning of the sittings of the House and Committees and provide services to Members relating to the performance of their parliamentary duties.
Services include advice and research on parliamentary procedure, administrative and procedural support to committees, preparation of documents for use in the House, and publication of the records of the House and its committees.
The Parliamentary Reporting Division (Hansard) produce a fair, accurate and impartial transcript of the proceedings of both Houses of Parliament and its Committees.
Job Description
Parliamentary Reporting Division (Hansard) is one of the Joint Services of the Parliament of South Australia. Our staff includes reporters, editors and publishers.
We provide a customer-focused service to Members of Parliament, their staff and the public. Reporters prepare and edit, as required, transcripts of the proceedings of the Parliament and other related events, using technology such as digital audio recording and voice-to-text transcription tools.
The Publishing and Project Officer is accountable to the Leader of Hansard for undertaking a range of activities associated with the production of the Hansard and other publications. This position also provides support for production, technical and administration functions, contributing to an effective and efficient reporting service.
The Publishing and Project Officer contributes to the delivery of effective and efficient reporting, including the preparation and publication of official record of debates (Hansard) and other divisional products.
This position ensures the publishing processes are operational and satisfy the daily service requirements of the Parliamentary Reporting Division.

An appointment is subject to the conditions under the Parliament (Joint Services) Act 1985.
The role will require some out-of-hours work and occasional intra and interstate travel.
Employees must observe the Parliament of South Australia Code of Conduct and comply with the Conduct Standards in the Code.
