Job Overview

We are seeking a seasoned data scientist to lead the development of core network modelling capabilities for our grid analytics platform.

Key Responsibilities

* Design and implement generalized powerflow models that work reliably across diverse network topologies, voltage levels, and data quality scenarios.
* Develop and evaluate advanced modelling techniques including linearized approximations, physics-informed neural networks, graph neural networks, hybrid approaches, and optimal powerflow.
* Collaborate with experienced power engineers to ensure models are grounded in grid physics and operational reality.
* Work with talented software engineers to productionize models and integrate them into the platform.
* Contribute to technical strategy and help establish best practices for model development, validation, and maintenance.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

* Strong data science foundations: statistical modelling, experimental design, model validation, feature engineering, ML techniques.
* Deep understanding of electrical distribution networks, power systems, and grid physics — whether from utilities, VPPs, grid tech, or the broader energy sector.
* 5+ years in data science or ML roles, with demonstrated impact at a senior or staff level.
* Python proficiency and the ability to write quality code for analysis and modelling.

Preferred Qualifications

The following skills would be highly valued:

* Hands-on experience with AC/DC optimal powerflow, physics-informed ML, or similar grid modelling techniques.
* Optimization expertise (constrained optimization, OPF).
* Software engineering depth — system design, testing, deployment, MLOps.
* GIS and network topology experience.
* Familiarity with Australian or US grid standards and operational practices.
* Utility systems experience (SCADA, DMS, etc.).

What We Offer

Join us for a remote-first opportunity with a talented team of engineers, data scientists, and power systems specialists working on hard problems that matter. Enjoy a competitive salary range and equity benefits in a collaborative environment where your ideas can thrive.
