What you\'ll be doing
The Social Worker will be based in the Mental Health Inpatient Unit and work across the Psychiatric Emergency Care Centre PECC at Royal North Shore Hospital. The units primarily serve consumers aged 18-65 but admit across the age spectrum and are committed to recovery orientated, evidence-informed care with consumer and carer participation. The team emphasizes collaborative decision making and social inclusion and works with other service partners as part of the model of service delivery.
* Deliver high quality social work services to inpatients across the Mental Health Inpatient Units, PECC and community mental health consumers and their families/carers, in line with the ethics and standards of the Australian Association of Social Workers, NSW Ministry of Health and other relevant bodies.
* Provide professional social work services to inpatients, PECC and community mental health consumers and their families/carers; participate in quality activities within the clinical setting.
* Develop and provide structured activities, rehabilitation programs and other therapeutic interventions; support programs across admission/assessment to community integration, with social, vocational, clinical rehabilitation and living skills components.
* Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team and report to the Nurse Unit Manager Level 3; maintain professional standards and participate in quality improvement initiatives.

Qualifications
* A Bachelor or postgraduate degree in Social Work or equivalent; eligible for full membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW).
* Extensive specialist knowledge in evidence-based social work interventions in inpatient mental health; demonstrated commitment to quality improvement and professional development.
* Strong interpersonal and written communication skills; ability to engage with consumers, families and carers; ability to consult with health, community and welfare professionals and basic computer skills.
