Hours Per Week: 38

Location: Hunter Prosthetics & Orthotics Service - John Hunter Hospital (Newcastle NSW)

Applications Close: 11:59pm, Tuesday 24 March 2026

The Opportunity

HealthShare NSW are seeking a motivated Orthotist to join the Enable NSW team in the Hunter (Newcastle).

As a Level 2 clinician, you will be working as part of a multidisciplinary team in the overall planning and implementation of orthotic patient care and will collaborate across Local Health Districts and other Government and Non-Government organisations. You will also have a valid driver's licence and be willing to travel as required.

We are seeking someone with demonstrated clinical knowledge and experience in orthotic assessment, management and manufacture, who possesses a recognised Prosthetic/Orthotic qualification, is eligible for AOPA registration and has current knowledge of contemporary practices, trends and developments. You will be performing diagnostic and clinical examinations, developing rehabilitation treatment plans as well as consulting, manufacturing, repairing and fitting orthotic devices.

As HPOS is now managing patients with scoliosis from assessment to brace manufacture, while not essential, you would ideally be able to demonstrate experience in this area of orthotics.

HPOS is part of HealthShare NSW and is located on the John Hunter Hospital Campus - the tertiary referral centre for the Hunter and Northern NSW regions. Providing care to a range of Prosthetic and Orthotic patients, the HPOS team consists of 11 clinical, 3 technical and 2 administrative support positions. The team cares deeply about the positive patient care-experience, is passionate about assisting our clients and their families to achieve desired life goals and getting them 'moving through life'.

HPOS is an on-site manufacturing department with our own 3D scanning capability as well as access to local 3D printing services.

HPOS is a registered NDIS provider and cares for patients funded through EnableNSW, HNELHD as well as other private and not-for-profit entities.

The Newcastle region is the second-most-populated region in NSW and Australia's second oldest city. Well known for our beaches, harbour and vineyards within an hour's drive, having a population of around half a million means our city is more slowly paced than the capital cities but still has a diverse range of culture, secret hipster-friendly nightspots and a fantastic range of restaurants.
