Asbestos/Hazmat Coordinator
-Hybrid role offering leadership opportunities in an office-based role with some site time.
-Based in Mandurah or Belmont
Occuhealth is seeking a passionate, organised, and driven Coordinator to lead our Asbestos/Hazmat team. This full-time position offers a unique blend of leadership responsibilities and hands-on site work. Applicants will ideally be a Licensed Asbestos Assessor, but experience in specialty areas such as mould would be highly regarded as would experience in Occupational Hygiene or laboratory management.

About the Role
In this role, you will lead and actively manage a small, committed team of Hazmat Technicians and Licensed Asbestos Assessors, ensuring resources are maximised to meet project timelines with efficiency and precision. You’ll be responsible for setting clear expectations, monitoring performance, and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement. Your involvement will extend to reviewing technical reports to uphold accuracy and regulatory compliance, while also conducting fieldwork such as site surveys, air monitoring, and clearance inspections.
Financial oversight will form part of your responsibilities, in addition to operational leadership, you’ll contribute to business development initiatives, helping to drive innovation and support the continued growth and success of Occuhealth.

Key responsibilities:
•Coordinate the various works to maximise output and meet client needs
•Build strong client relationships and deliver exceptional service
•Conduct fieldwork including asbestos surveys and monitoring (approx. 50% of time)
•Ensure technical accuracy and compliance in all reporting
•Manage a team of hazmat technicians and Licensed Asbestos Assessors, fostering a supportive and productive team.
•Monitor budgets and financial targets
•Maximise the use of a NATA accredited laboratory for fibre counting only (asbestos identification and analysis not included)
Essential requirements:
•Extensive experience in asbestos and hazmat (Licensed Asbestos Assessor or 5+ years’ experience with a pending application)
•Strong working knowledge of current WHS legislation and industry standards
•Excellent communication and leadership skills
•Proven ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines and exceed expectations
•Strong problem-solving skills with effective decision-making
Desirable:
•Experience with NATA fibre counting and laboratory procedures
•Knowledge, understanding and experience in occupational hygiene
•Business acumen and can identify growth and business opportunities
