Administration Officer – Avocado Production Operation

Full-Time | Mareeba Region | Immediate Start

We are a large-scale professional avocado orchard operation seeking an experienced and proactive Administration Officer to join our tight-knit team. This is a wide-ranging, hands-on role that keeps the entire business running smoothly behind the scenes.

About the Role

You will provide high-level administrative support to managers and staff in a fast-paced agricultural environment. No two days are the same – you’ll be the go-to person for systems, compliance, supplier coordination and process improvement.

Key Responsibilities

- Advanced use of Microsoft 365 suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Forms, OneDrive, SharePoint) including complex spreadsheets, document formatting and collaboration tools

- Calendar management and meeting coordination (including minute-taking and follow-up actions)

- Creation, version control and management of policies, procedures, privacy documents and templates

- Supplier and contractor coordination – professional, front-facing customer service (phone/email/in-person with key partners, not the general public)

- Assisting staff with IT basics: mobile app installation, account/password resets for company systems

- Light payroll processing and leave management

- Accounts reconciliation and bookkeeping support

- Workplace Health & Safety administration using Safe Ag Systems

- Food safety program administration and audits using Freshcare

- Cataloguing, digital and physical filing, record keeping

- Identifying inefficiencies and proactively creating or improving processes and systems

About You

You are the type of person who loves solving problems and making things work better. You’re not looking for a rigid 9-to-5 where nothing ever changes – you enjoy taking ownership, suggesting improvements and implementing new ways of doing things.

Essential Skills & Experience

- Advanced Microsoft 365 proficiency across the full suite (particularly Excel, Word, Teams, Forms, SharePoint)

- Previous administration experience in an office environment

- Strong written and verbal communication skills

- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills

- Comfortable with basic IT support (password resets, app installation on phones/tablets)

- Basic reconciliation/bookkeeping skills

- Demonstrated experience creating and managing documents with version control

- Current knowledge (or quick learner) of WHS and food-safety compliance systems used in Australian agriculture

Highly Regarded

- Experience in agriculture, horticulture or fresh produce industries

- Existing knowledge of Safe Ag Systems and/or Freshcare

- Passion for farming, food production or avocados!

What We Offer

- Hours: Monday–Thursday 7:00 am – 3:30 pm | Friday 7:00 am – 1:00 pm

(Finish at lunchtime every Friday – no weekend work)
