Through close engagement with Council leadership, this role supports all aspects of safety at Council including system development and implementation, policy and procedure review and implementation, audits, investigation, reporting and more.Key Responsibilities IncludeProvide WHS, injury management and recover at work expertise, guidance, support and education to all staffAssist with the development, implementation and continuous improvement of Council's WHS systemConduct and coordinate a programmed approach to regular WHS audits across Council including the annual StateCover audit, internal and external audits as may be requiredAssist in the identification and facilitation of strategies and programs to improve the safety of staff and to mitigate claimsWork in partnership with key stakeholders to develop and implement policy, procedures, systems and education programsSupport the recording and reporting process for workplace incidents and promote a proactive local approach to incident investigation and hazard resolutionProvide WHS statistics and reports as requiredManage Council's workplace health surveillance, including vaccinations and immunisations as requiredAs the Return-to-Work Coordinator, administer the rehabilitation of injured workers including recover at work programs in accordance with relevant Workers Compensation and Injury Management legislationProvide support for emergency preparedness and response programs, such as fire drills and evacuationCoordinate and facilitate WHS education, induction and training to ensure Council meets its legislative requirementsIn consultation with key stakeholders, assist in the development and continuous improvement of Council's SWMS and SWPsAdminister the WHS Committee and coordinate and promote appropriate and timely consultative arrangements for WHSLead investigations where a serious incident has occurred or as directed by the Manager Integrated Risk and provide assistance to undertake and review incident investigationsParticipate in outdoor worker toolbox talks to discuss incidents, hazards, and incident investigation outcomesAssist with onsite risk assessments for high-risk work and other such field support as requiredEssential CriteriaTertiary qualifications in Work Health & Safety, coupled with solid contemporary experience in a senior WHS roleSafeWork NSW Return to Work Coordinator accreditationExpert knowledge of and ability to interpret and apply WHS legislation and regulationsProven ability to work cooperatively and consult across all levels of management and staffExperience conducting complex WHS investigations and auditsExperience delivering on-the-job WHS induction, education and awareness trainingProficiency in the use of Microsoft Office suiteDemonstrated high level written, verbal and interpersonal skills and the ability to positively influence and negotiate positive outcomesThis position is offered on a permanent, full-time basis working 35 hours per week.Remuneration package for this position is based on Grade 13 of Council's Salary System Protocol which equates to a base salary of $103,561 - $116,492 per annum plus a motor vehicle allowance of $18,168.97 and 12% superannuation totaling a TRP of $136,338 - $150,820 per annum.BE VALUED - THE REWARDYour Wellbeing Benefits IncludeSwell Program (Safe + Well at Singleton Council)Health + Wellbeing LeaveFitness PassportEmployee Assistance Program (EAP)Annual Flu Vaccinations + Skin ChecksYour Flexible Work Benefits May IncludeWork from homeRostered Day Off9-day fortnightYour Leave Benefits IncludeConcessional Leave between Christmas and New YearAnnual LeaveSick + Carer's LeaveLong Service Leave after 5 yearsPurchase of Additional Annual LeaveParental LeaveDomestic + Family Violence LeaveHealth + Wellbeing LeaveYour Development Benefits IncludeTraining Courses + Professional DevelopmentEducation AssistanceLeadership Development ProgramEmerging Leaders Program'Grow our Own' ProgramYour reward + recognition benefits include:ESSPecialist Program AwardsService AwardsBe Valued Recognition ProgramWANT TO KNOW MORE?
