About the role
WDHS is seeking an experienced Occupational Therapist (Gr 2) for a Maternity leave position within our Occupational Therapy team,
32 hours per week for a fixed term contract up until (27/02/2026).
We pride ourselves on our strong, supportive teamwork and provision of high-quality healthcare to our consumers.
This position will see the successful applicant working across a variety of clinical areas, programs and workgroups, providing occupational services to acute, rehabilitation, aged care and community clients of Western District Health Service and other agencies.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Conduct comprehensive occupational therapy assessments and develop individualised interventions to meet individual client needs.
* Participate as a member of a multi-disciplinary health care team, to ensure the optimum outcomes for clients.
* Complete accurately and legible documentation of assessments, interventions and client progress, adhering to legal and organisational standards.
* Maintain up to date client records and assist with statistical data collection according to organisation/program requirements.
* Actively participate in the development and evaluation of programs aimed at improving client outcomes.
* Assist with the supervision and mentoring of students (including work experience placements, allied health assistants and occupational therapy students).
* Contribute to continuous quality improvement activities and initiatives.
* Participate in meetings, seminars and conferences as directed by the organisation.
* Engage in ongoing professional development activities to enhance skills and knowledge.
* Strictly adhere to workplace confidentiality requirements in all aspects of practice.
About You
Selection Criteria:
* Bachelor of Occupational Therapy or equivalent
* Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
* Proven experience in providing occupational therapy services in a multidisciplinary setting, particularly in acute, rehabilitation, aged care and community services
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Excellent organisational and time management skills and a strong attention to detail.
* Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
* A commitment to professional development and maintaining up-to-date clinical knowledge
* Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and confidentiality.
* Strong attention to detail and accuracy

The successful applicant will hold, or be able to obtain, a current National Criminal Police Check. Dependant on your position you may be required to obtain a Working with Children Check Clearance, Disability Worker Exclusion Scheme check and / or NDIS Worker Screening Check. All successful applicants are to comply with WDHS immunisation and vaccination requirements.
