Floral Manager – Safeway
Join Safeway as a Floral Manager. Responsible for customer service, staffing, merchandising, inventory, and floral design.
Key Responsibilities & Accountabilities
* Provide customer service as defined by the employer within the scope of the position.
* Train, schedule, and supervise floral clerks to ensure optimum staffing patterns.
* Write schedule for the Floral Department with Store Director approval.
* Follow Division guidelines for the implementation of the merchandising plan.
* Speak with customers to resolve problems with sales or dissatisfaction with service.
* Design aesthetically pleasing floral arrangements for display or to meet customer needs.
* Manage inventory per company policies to drive sales and profits.
* Perform daily inventory and order necessary supplies.
* Prepare and input floral department orders into the computer.
* Stock and maintain displays; remove expired items daily.
* Operate helium tank to inflate balloons.
* Use sprayers and containers to water all plants.
* Maintain cleanliness of the floral area.
* Operate cash register.
* Monitor inter-office mail and company web page daily for updated information.
* Other duties as assigned.
Skills And Requirements
* Ability to follow company customer service procedures and demonstrated prior customer service skills or related experience.
* Ability to interact with customers and co-workers.
* Ability to understand and follow instructions.
* Previous experience or training as a floral clerk or designer.
* Desired: Prior management experience.
Work Environment
Location inclusion : 90% Inside, 10% Outside.
Temperature Extremes : Varies depending on store location.
Chemicals : Seldom (mild detergents or glass cleaner).
Equipment Used : Hand truck, six-wheeled cart, grocery cart, box cutter, pens and pencils, spray bottle, rags, mops, broom, telephone/intercom, knives, calculator, flower cutter, balloon machine, computer, floral decorating supplies, cash register.
Union and Non-Union
The pay range is $28.40 per hour, but no less than the local minimum wage. Starting rates vary based on location, experience, qualifications, and the terms of any applicable collective bargaining agreement. Depending on length of service, hours worked, and any applicable collective bargaining agreement, benefits include medical, dental, vision, disability and life insurance; sick pay accrued based on hours worked; PTO/Vacation pay accrued based on hours worked; paid holidays (9 days annually); bereavement pay; and retirement benefits (pension and/or 401k eligibility).
