Dolly’s Dream was created by Kate and Tick Everett following the tragic loss of their 14-year-old daughter, Dolly, to suicide, after ongoing bullying. Kate and Tick’s goal is to prevent other families walking this road.
Dolly’s Dream strives change the culture of bullying by addressing the impact of bullying, anxiety, depression and youth suicide, through education and direct support to young people and families across Australia, with a focus on Remote, Rural and Reginal areas. Watch our origin story here

This role is formally based in South Melbourne. We support our staff to work flexibly, both in location and hours, based on the premise that work will remain the focus of any arrangement. How and where you work is discussed with each staff member based on individual circumstances, role requirements and accountability for delivery of high-quality work.
About the Role:
The PR & Media Advisor is responsible for delivery of our media engagement strategy for Dolly's Dream including the management of relationships with key media outlets and journalists, proactive pitching of stories and campaigns, and writing and editing media releases, OpEds, case studies, and other corporate communications.
The PR & Media Advisor is responsible for shaping and sharing the voice of Dolly’s Dream through earned media, public relations, ambassador engagement and strategic partnerships. This role plays a pivotal part in increasing brand salience, building top-of-mind awareness, and significantly raising the organisation’s public profile through targeted and meaningful communications and campaigns like Do It For Dolly Day.
Major job responsibilities:
* In collaboration with the Brand and Marketing Manager, develop and implement a Media and PR strategy to support the goals of Dolly’s Dream including programs, advocacy and income generation.
* Support the implementation of our integrated income generation, brand and community engagement strategy through earned media, ambassadors and influencers.
* Work collaboratively with the team to deliver our Advocacy strategy and effectively position Dolly's Dream as experts/thought leaders in our key program areas.
* Manage all media opportunities, enquiries, and publicity for the Program, Partner and Fundraising campaigns and initiatives aligned with Dolly’s Dream brand objectives and yearly campaign plans - Do It For Dolly Day.
* Manage relationships with external PR suppliers and media partners to ensure delivery on campaign objectives.
* Manage all media issues and risks.
* Develop and implement the ambassador and influencer strategy to engage existing and new ambassadors to support the work of the Dolly’s Dream.
* Build strong and enduring relationships with key journalists and content directors across media networks and work with them to deliver consistent messages and information to target audiences.
* Research, write, interview and develop effective case studies and impact stories for use in fund raising, campaigns and marketing activities.
* Prepare position statements, speeches, and voice-of-CEO communications for use across multiple channels.
* Oversee and analyse media monitoring and campaign results to develop actionable insights and improvements to the strategy.
* Participate in and contribute to plans, creative brainstorms including campaign activations, as well as leading weekly content meetings.
* Work in partnership with the Alannah & Madeline Foundation Media Advisor and Advocacy Manager to ensure collaboration across both brands.
* Contributing positively to the Foundation's culture of We are stronger together through developing and maintaining collaborative relationships with colleagues.
* Contribute to a high performing team culture working collaboratively to successfully achieve Team, Department and Organisational KPls and Strategic Plan.
* Other tasks as directed by the Head of Dolly's Dream, Director of Development & Communications, CEO, and Executive Leadership Team
Knowledge, experience & requirements:
* Significant experience as a journalist and/or in PR and corporate communications for a complex organisation and media landscape.
* Demonstrated ability to build strong and enduring relationships with media, including management of significant media partnerships, government, corporate, suppliers and individual stakeholders.
* Ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously, and to work autonomously to achieve agreed plans and objectives.

* Working with Children Check and Police Check
