About The Role
The Manager, Procurement is a senior leadership role at the heart of City of Melbourne's commercial operations, responsible for shaping and strengthening a high-performing procurement function that delivers value for the organisation and the community.
Reporting into the Director - Procurement and Contract Management, this role will lead a specialist team and will oversee end-to-end procurement activity across an annual spend of $325 million and more than 3,000 suppliers, ensuring strong governance, robust commercial outcomes and continuous improvement across category management, contracting and supplier management.
As a trusted expert and strategic advisor, you will drive the maturity of CoM's procurement capability, influence organisational direction, and build strong, collaborative relationships with stakeholders and suppliers at all levels to support the delivery of Council priorities.
A Little More About The Role
* Implement best practice and future focused procurement strategies across Council to deliver organisation wide efficiencies and benefits
* Uplift strategic sourcing management capabilities across Council to deliver on financial and non-financial benefits including cost savings, supply chain risk mitigation and supplier innovation
* Develop executive level supplier insights and reporting to enable decision making and identify opportunities for rationalisation, aggregation and demand management.
* Provide expert advice and consulting on commercial best practice, policies and processes to senior management and staff across the organisation
* Build and maintain strong and effective stakeholder and supplier relationships at all levels.
* Provide expert and authoritative advice on commercial issues across all levels of CoM.

About You
What your experience might look like
* Relevant tertiary qualification in procurement, supply chain, business, commerce, or equivalent experience
* Demonstrated experience providing advice on probity, procurement, tendering and contract management, with knowledge of legislative and policy requirements
* Experience developing and implementing procurement policies, procedures and systems across the end-to-end lifecycle
* Experience managing contracts to achieve cost efficiencies and support continuous improvement
* Experience incorporating social, environmental and economic sustainability considerations
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with stakeholders at all levels
* Proficiency in relevant systems and software, including procurement and financial systems, spreadsheets, databases, reporting and project management tools
