As the Property Contract Officer, you will be the primary source of asset management support for Housing Property Services in the Big Rivers Region. You will play a key role in ensuring high-quality, culturally appropriate management of public and government employee housing, while supporting the delivery of essential repairs, maintenance, and minor new works across the region.
Your responsibilities will include contract administration, project management, stakeholder engagement, contractor performance oversight, and ensuring compliance with legislative and departmental requirements. You will also ensure accurate asset data and reporting, undertake asset condition inspections, and contribute to effective service delivery during natural disasters, critical incidents, or after-hours events.
To thrive in this role, you will bring experience in contract administration, project management and procurement, with a sound understanding of legislation, codes and standards relevant to housing construction and maintenance. You will demonstrate strong communication and negotiation skills, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to build productive relationships with contractors, communities and stakeholders—including experience working in remote Aboriginal communities. You will also be highly organised, self-directed, and adaptable, with strong analytical and reporting capability. A current NT C-class driver's licence (or equivalent), the ability to drive 4x4 vehicles long distances, and willingness to travel to remote communities, including by light aircraft is essential.
