The Australian Government Graduate Program Legal Stream provides an exciting and rewarding career opportunity in law within the Australian Government.
* Work in various areas of law, including policy and practice.
As a graduate, you will work on challenging projects and have opportunities to develop your legal expertise. The program consists of two sub-streams: Legal Policy and Legal Practice.
Both sub-streams provide fulfilling work and challenges for you to grow and strengthen your skill set. Your professional development will be supported so you can enhance your legal knowledge.
To be eligible, you must submit a completed application prior to the closing date and provide evidence or confirmation of the following:
* You are an Australian citizen at the time of application.
* Will or have completed a Bachelor of Laws or a Juris Doctor by 31 December 2026.
* Your most recent eligible qualification has or will be completed between 1 January 2022 to 31 December 2026.
* Be able to obtain and maintain a valid Australian Government security clearance once accepted onto the program when required.
* Be willing to undergo any police, character, health or other checks required.
Additionally, applicants must demonstrate eligibility for employment under this affirmative measure by providing evidence that they are an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person.

The Attorney-General's Department will undertake an Affirmative Measures – Indigenous recruitment process alongside the AGGP Legal Stream to better support First Nations candidates through the recruitment process.
Relocation assistance is available for eligible successful candidates. Most graduate roles are based in Canberra, with some roles available in other Australian cities and major regional centres.
