Database Reliability Engineer (Remote, AUS) – CrowdStrike
Location: Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, Australia
Join CrowdStrike to contribute to a mission-driven team that protects people, processes and technologies. We work on large-scale distributed systems with a focus on data plane services and automation in cloud environments.
What You'll Do
- Maintain a deep understanding of data components including Cassandra, ElasticSearch/OpenSearch, Kafka, Zookeeper, MySQL and PostgreSQL, and operate and automate properly configured clusters.
- Understand operating databases in Kubernetes and manage container images.
- Develop infrastructure services to support a DevOps approach for CrowdStrike engineering teams.
- Collaborate with Engineering and Customer Support to troubleshoot time-sensitive production issues, regardless of when they occur.
- Ensure petabytes of critical business data are safe, secure, and available.
What You’ll Need
- Configuration management (Chef)
- Scripting in Python and Bash
- Experience with large-scale datastores using Cassandra, ElasticSearch, Kafka, Zookeeper, and MySQL
- Experience with large-scale, business-critical Linux environments
- Experience operating within the cloud, preferably AWS, GCP and OCI
- Proven ability to work effectively with both local and remote teams
- Strong decision-making skills, especially under pressure
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Independent yet collaborative with the prudence to ask for help when needed
- Bachelor’s degree in CS, CIS or Engineering
