Kids Junction's Summer Adventure Camp Senior (SAC Sr) is looking for a dynamic, engaging, fun-loving Leader to join our team. This year-round position will work with the SAC Sr Coordinator to plan and implement the annual SAC Sr camp. The role is responsible for creating a safe, fun, and stimulating environment for campers and staff, and interact professionally with children, families, and staff. During the camp off season, time would be dedicated to assisting in planning the camp and being a teacher for the After School Adventure Club. There are opportunities to lead other education programs for our preschool.
SAC Sr. is a middle school day camp for students entering 5th – 8th grade that runs Monday-Friday 7:00 AM-6:00 PM for about twelve weeks from June to August. This traveling camp has an exciting format geared for young teens and preteens, with daily activities including outdoor education, crafts, sports, and games. Twice a week, the program travels to additional locations for more challenging field trips.
Essential Job Responsibilities
* Assist the SAC Sr. Coordinator in designing, implementing, and evaluating the camp to meet the needs and interests of campers, parents, and staff.
* Seek and analyze input from campers, parents, and staff regarding all elements of the camp including safety, enjoyment, and effectiveness.
* Remain current with developmental, social, and emotional needs of youth.
* Assist in the design and implementation of planned activities appropriate to campers' needs.
* Assist in the design and implementation of crisis and risk management procedures.
* Assist in ensuring daily camp operations run smoothly, including food service, program logistics, camper and staff supervision, safety, and health concerns.
* Oversee camper safety, including knowing their whereabouts and having proper paperwork for tracking.
* Work collaboratively with administration and staff to enhance camp operation.
Additional Job Responsibilities
* Assist in financial planning aspects of the camp within a budget while keeping the camp appealing to the target population.
* Develop and maintain relationships with space/property owners.
* Assist in designing and implementing a marketing plan to increase attendance and retention.
* Assist in the management of seasonal staff assigned to SAC Sr.
* Assist with the school-age program, including being an After School Teacher during the school year.
* Other tasks and projects as assigned by an Administrator or Director.
Required Skills and Competencies
* High School diploma, or equivalent
* Minimum of 3 years' experience in a camp setting with at least 2 years of leadership
* Ability to foster teamwork and thrive in a collaborative environment
* Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and willingness to learn other applications
* Excellent written and verbal communication
* Skilled in remaining composed and effective in challenging situations while handling multiple tasks
* High level attention to detail and strong customer service skills
Preferred Skills and Competencies
* Associates degree or higher in early childhood, education, or recreation management
* Experience providing administrative and/or logistical support in a camp, education, or preschool setting
* 3-5 years of management experience
Working Conditions
* Must have, or obtain within 30 days of receiving position, a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) for driving campers in a company bus
* Ability to lift 15 pounds or more
* Ability to stand for 8-10 hours per day
* Ability to work outside 8-10 hours per day in the summer months
Terms of Employment
* Monday-Friday; Full-Time non-exempt
* $20.00-$25.00 per hour
* Sign on bonus: $1,000.00 at point of hire, $1,000.00 after 60 days
