Health services manager

Ceduna
Maralinga Tjarutja
Posted: 26 December
Offer description

We are seeking an experienced, grounded and compassionate Health Services Manager to lead the Oak Valley Health Service. This is a unique leadership role that blends clinical expertise, operational management and community engagement in a remote setting.

The Health Service Manager will oversee general clinic operations, financial management including grants, support to aged care services, and partnerships with Oak Valley Council and key partner organisations including AHCSA, NACCHO and SAWCAN.

This role carries responsibility for clinical governance, operational leadership, workforce development and compliance with relevant legislation and accreditation standards (including AGPAL). This is not a "power over" role, but a hands‑on, walk‑alongside leadership position built on respect, collaboration and community trust.

ABOUT US

Maralinga Tjarutja Inc and Oak Valley (Maralinga) Aboriginal Corporation are community‑led organisations committed to caring for Country, preserving cultural identity and supporting the long‑term development and wellbeing of its people.

ABOUT OAK VALLEY COMMUNITY

Oak Valley is a culturally rich Anangu community located in the Maralinga Tjarutja Lands in South Australia. Established in 1985, Oak Valley is a resilient, drug and alcohol‑free community with strong cultural ties and a commitment to wellbeing.

THE TYPE OF LEADER WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are seeking someone who leads with calm, consistency and humility, works respectfully as a team player at all levels, and understands that community always comes first.

This role will not suit someone seeking hierarchy, control or ego‑driven leadership.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA

* Registered Nurse or Nurse Practitioner with current AHPRA registration
* Minimum five years' nursing experience in remote comprehensive primary healthcare
* Previous experience as a Remote Area Nurse (RAN)
* Demonstrated health service management experience
* Proven leadership and communication skills
* Strong understanding of Indigenous health and cultural safety

WHAT IS IMPORTANT TO US

* Leadership experience in remote or regional service delivery, particularly the ACCHO sector
* Understanding of Anangu governance and cultural protocols
* Hands‑on, adaptable and collaborative leadership style

WHAT WE OFFER

* Above Award salary, to be negotiated dependent on experience and organisational fit.
* Salary sacrifice packaging up to $15,900 per annum
* Furnished accommodation in Oak Valley
* All relevant business tools required for the job
* Professional development and training support
* A respectful, values‑driven, community‑led workplace

HOW TO APPLY

* Email Simone Bleaney at to request the Job and Person Specification.
* Once received, consider the Job and Person Specification carefully.
* Formally submit your application by emailing a cover letter and resume (following the guidelines below) to by 5pm on Friday 9th January 2026.
* A cover letter (maximum 2 pages) telling us why you're the right person for this role and for our organisation. This is your chance to introduce yourself – we're more interested in who you are and what you bring than a checklist against criteria. (Tips for the cover letter – consider explaining things like how you lead people and/or teams; your understanding of the importance of organisational culture; and/or how you work respectfully in remote Aboriginal community settings.)
* Your current resume, including contact details for two referees. Referees will only be contacted with your permission.

TIME FRAMES

* Interviews will be conducted during the week of 19‑23rd January.
* The successful candidate is expected to be available to start in Oak Valley community on or before Monday 2nd March 2026.

Be careful — Don't provide your bank or credit card details when applying for jobs. Don't transfer any money or complete suspicious online surveys. If you see something suspicious, report this job ad.
