About the Opportunity
Opportunity knocks for an experienced Senior Open Pit Geologist to work on a landmark APAC 'mega project', and at the greenfield stage.
Offering the rare opportunity to be involved prior to production, establishing ore control standards and optimizing ore extraction from inception as part of a world‑class Mineral Resource Management team.
Working on an expat FIFO basis, you will be responsible for optimizing the extraction of the company's Ore Reserve and its controlled delivery to the mill.
The role is pivotal in ensuring effective ore control, minimizing dilution and loss, and providing critical technical leadership to drive operational excellence across this significant hard‑rock copper‑gold mining operation.

The Role
The Senior Open Pit Geologist is responsible for optimizing the extraction of the company's Ore Reserve and its controlled delivery to the mill, as well as the definition of waste material for ARD purposes.
This leadership role involves supervision, training and development of the team, coordinating daily and monthly responsibilities with mining activities, and critical evaluation of geological, mine, and metallurgical deliveries.
Key Duties & Responsibilities Design grade blocks (ore and waste) according to departmental classifications and best practice for control of dilution and loss, and ensure they are available ahead of mining.
Monitor mining practices and markups to ensure consistency in material types, define high‑risk loss and dilution and prioritise spotter supervision.
Monitor and assist Operations with all Ore Loss and Dilution Control activities.
Validate and maintain material movement statistics with integral knowledge of the production tracking systems and including closing blocks and blasts.
Drive zero‑harm workplace through visible felt leadership, stop work authority, and other safety programs in place.
Build and maintain collaborative internal relationships with key departments and sub‑departments (MRM, Exploration, Laboratory, Engineering, Mining/Operations, Processing, Environment, Safety, etc.).
Represent the Mining Department and Mine Geology in all Production meetings, including planning and processing meetings.
Provide high‑quality technical support to all related RDMC Operations Departments and assist investigations into non‑compliances.
Training and supervision of MRM staff for ore block creation, technical sampling, ore markups, spotting, dilution control activities and mine reporting.
Attend to HR related tasks for direct reports and their team members when required inclusive of monitoring succession planning initiatives through the facilitation of leadership training.
Act as Production Superintendent – MRM, as required.
Participate in reconciliation processes for identification of improvement areas and conduct business improvement studies under Superintendent guidance.
Participate in cost control initiatives, inclusive of budget and forecasting exercises.
Participate and/or perform any additional departmental tasks as assigned by the Geology Superintendent or Mining Manager.
Qualifications and Experience
Education: Bachelor of Science degree in Geology, Geological Engineering, or related field required.
Experience: 5+ years of demonstrated exposure to Open Pit mining activities.
Excellent safety record with ability to demonstrate safety leadership required.
Technical Skills: High level skills with generic software packages (Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint, etc.).
High level skills with mining software packages (Leapfrog and Vulcan (or equivalent)).
Obtain, and retain, a Pakistan Driving Licence and Pit Driving Permit.
Skills and Capabilities
Core Competencies: Proven ability to communicate optimally; both verbally and in writing required.
Ability to work collaboratively within a coordinated and agile multidisciplinary team, regardless of reporting structure required.
Ability to work with minimum supervision required.
Strong technical expertise in ore control, grade control, and dilution management.
Expert knowledge of production tracking systems and geological modelling.
Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with focus on continuous improvement.
