About the role
The First Nations Project Officer - Commissioning will be a key member of a dispersed team, providing project support within the Commissioning portfolio and wider organisation. Responsibilities include planning, stakeholder engagement, consultation, project support, and administrative tasks. This role significantly contributes to health outcomes for First Nations peoples in the Hunter, New England, and Central Coast regions.
The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, flexibility, and self-direction, managing daily tasks efficiently. The role involves working closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure effective consultation and timely delivery of activities. It supports the PHN’s strategic objectives by enabling strong First Nations engagement and internal processes.
The successful candidate will have:
* Experience working with First Nations communities and a commitment to health equity
* Experience in primary health care
* Relevant qualifications or extensive project management experience
* Excellent communication and attention to detail
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively, building relationships and applying change management principles
* Strong organisation and time management skills
* Identification as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander and active community involvement

**Salary classification depends on skills and experience, generally between grades I – K.
