Where you'll be working:The John Hunter Engineering Department comprises 51 staff; most staff, except the Engineering Control Room and the Management team, are required to do day work starting at 7 am to 3:57 pm working 8.45 hrs per day allowing 9 days per fortnight with an unpaid rostered day off. The Apprentice Fitter and Turner will work with the Trade Qualified Fitters and could work in any department of any building on the John Hunter campus, or its associated buildings.
About the role
The Apprentice Fitter and Turner will work with the tradesmen Fitters, and undertake all duties as directed and those listed in the position description. They are also to undertake the appropriate TAFE course for the trade, through to completion.
This role will be supported by the trade staff and JHH Engineering management where needed as well as the Organisational Capability and Learning office at Waratah and the apprentice will be enrolled in the trades course at the appropriate level to undertake TAFE training and they will undertake the HNELHD in‐house, My Health Learning program.
About you
Ideally, John Hunter Engineering is looking for an Apprentice Fitter and Turner that has completed a minimum of Year 10 schooling, they will have a keen interest in the Fitting trade, a pre‐apprenticeship course or school‐based training will be an advantage and they would be willing to complete a four‐year apprenticeship in the Painting trade including the associated trade course.
