Position Information
Normanhurst Boys High School (with enrolment 760 students) is an academically selective high school, with approximately 85% of students from a language background other than English. The school has an exceptional wellbeing program, with a commitment to excellence and catering for the needs of gifted and talented students. Focus is on maximising student learning outcomes within a holistic educational environment that incorporates a diverse range of extracurricular activities. The school also provides various opportunities to help students develop their leadership capacity. There is a particularly strong emphasis upon instilling awareness about importance of social justice and developing the values and attitudes that will enable them to make an outstanding contribution to society. The school values its partnership with the community and also has an autism unit.
Selection Criteria
* Approval to teach Mathematics
* Demonstrated successful teaching experience in mathematics extension 1 to Year 12 level, and capacity to teach mathematics extension 2, to a range of high performing and gifted (HPG) students in a selective school environment.
* Highly developed communication and organisational skills, with a capacity to contribute to collaborative practice within the faculty and on whole school wellbeing programs.
* Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver engaging and effective lessons, delivery of timely, constructive, and effective feedback to support student progress, build confidence, and foster continuous improvement.
* Demonstrated ability to use information communication technologies to support quality teaching and learning, including demonstrated capacity to use specialist typesetting systems to enhance the learning of mathematics for high performing and gifted (HPG) students.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
