About the role
As RACQ’s Payroll Business Partner, you’ll take ownership of the full end-to-end payroll cycle, ensuring every process is delivered accurately, reliably and on time. You’ll provide expert guidance on payroll legislation, support continuous process improvement, and partner closely with leaders to deliver a seamless payroll experience for our people. Your work will ensure compliance, strengthen employee trust, and contribute to RACQ’s commitment to exceptional member and employee service. This role is a 12-month fixed term contract.
Key responsibilities:
* Deliver accurate, reliable and timely end-to-end fortnightly and monthly payrolls, manage employee movements, and resolve complex payroll issues using a riskware approach.
* Provide high-level support to employees by responding to payroll queries, maintaining confidentiality, and ensuring excellent customer service.
* Partner with Finance, HR and other RACQ teams, and liaise with external regulatory bodies, including ATO, Centrelink, ABS and credit providers, while managing required documentation.
* Interpret and apply Enterprise Agreements, contracts, policies, procedures and legislation to ensure correct entitlements, and complete payroll tax, PAYG, superannuation, deductions and end of month obligations.
* Support audits, reporting and compliance activities; contribute to yearend tasks, workers compensation returns, ad hoc reporting and continuous process and system improvements.
* Collaborate across RACQ, uphold safety and compliance responsibilities, mentor team members, participate in payroll projects, and perform additional duties as directed by the Manager Payroll.
About you:
* Minimum Certificate level qualification in Business, Finance, Payroll or a related field, with 5–7 years’ relevant payroll experience.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively and support or mentor team members.
* Proven experience delivering accurate end-to-end payroll across multiple pay cycles, including interpreting complex Enterprise Agreements and organisational policies.
* Advanced knowledge of leave entitlements, PAYG, superannuation, payroll tax, salary sacrifice and other deductions, supported by strong numeracy and attention to detail.
* High proficiency in Microsoft Excel, strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, and capability to resolve complex payroll or system issues with a risk focused approach.
* Excellent time management skills, ability to work independently or as part of a team, and commitment to always maintaining confidentiality and privacy.
* Experience with Chris21 (Frontier Software) is highly desirable
