Looking for senior dev work without the full-time commitment?
We're a digital agency in Newcastle that's been delivering websites, SEO strategies, and digital marketing solutions for over 25 years. We're looking for a part-time senior developer (3 days/week) to join our small team and own client projects.
This is perfect for:
Senior developers who want part-time work (parents, semi-retired, portfolio careers)
Someone with their own consulting or business who wants steady base income
Developers who value flexibility over full-time commitment
The Role
You'll be:
Building and maintaining client websites (WordPress, Shopify, custom solutions)
Managing your own client relationships for projects you own
Working independently (you're senior, no hand-holding needed)
Collaborating with a small team when needed (mostly autonomous)
Recent projects include e-commerce builds, LMS migrations, and SEO-driven redesigns across industries including tourism, medical, and professional services.
You won't be:
Managing anyone
Expected to be available outside your 3 days
Pulled into constant meetings (senior = trusted to deliver)
What We Need
Must-haves:
5+ years development experience
Client-facing capability (you can translate tech to English)
WordPress and/or e-commerce platform expertise
Can estimate accurately and manage your own time
Based in Newcastle or willing to travel 3 days/week (we're office-based)
Nice-to-haves:
SEO technical implementation experience
Shopify or WooCommerce depth
Previous agency or consulting work (you understand client services)
What You Get
The setup:
3 days/week (flexible which 3 days, ideally Tue to Thu for team overlap, negotiable)
Office-based in Newcastle
Clear boundaries on your working days
The work:
Interesting client projects across diverse industries
Autonomy over how you solve problems
No corporate bureaucracy
Get in, do great work, get out
The compensation:
$65,000 to $80,000 pro-rata (based on experience)
Superannuation
Equipment and tools you need
Professional development support
The flexibility:
This is explicitly part-time (we won't creep it to full-time)
Potential to continue long-term if it suits everyone
Could evolve to full-time if you decide you want that
We're flexible and open to finding what works
The Application
Don't send a generic CV. We want to know:
What does your ideal working arrangement look like?
Show us your work (portfolio, GitHub, sites you've built)
What's your ideal 3-day setup? (Tue to Thu? Mon-Wed-Fri? Something else?)
Send to: Subject line: "Part-Time Senior Developer + [Your Name]"
Timeline
Applications close: 27 February 2026
Interviews: Rolling (we'll move fast for the right person)
Start date: ASAP or flexible based on your availability
Questions?
"Is this actually part-time or will it creep to full-time?" Actually part-time. We don't do bait-and-switch.
"What if I can only do 2 days, not 3?" Talk to us. We'd rather have the right person 2 days than the wrong person 3 days.
"Can I work remotely?" No. We're office-based for collaboration. 3 days/week in Newcastle.
"Is this role junior-friendly?" No. This is explicitly senior. We need someone who can work independently from day one.
"Could this become ongoing?" Yes. If it's working for both sides, we're open to making this a permanent part-time role.
