The role of the First Nations Local Area Coordinator is to foster connections between First Nations peoples and relevant community supports, enhancing participation and outcomes for individuals and communities.
* Key Responsibilities:
* Community Engagement: Facilitate community engagement, raise awareness of inclusion of people with disability within local communities.
* Cultural Capability: Enhance the capacity of Carers Queensland in understanding and responding effectively to the cultural needs of First Nations people.
* Strategic Partnerships: Identify, facilitate, and maintain key partnerships and stakeholder relationships within First Nations communities that align with Carers Queensland priorities.
* Community Development: Actively facilitate positive partnerships between individuals, families, carers, local organisations, and the broader community to enhance inclusivity and accessibility.
* Community Impact: Work directly with First Nations communities to support individuals with disability to connect to the NDIS.
