Permanent Part-Time 0.6 FTE | 45 hours per fortnight About Us Western Private Hospital (WPH) is a boutique private hospital servicing the West of Melbourne, with the provision of acute services, which has 62 inpatient beds. We are fully equipped for a comprehensive range of surgical procedures including general, bariatric, oral max, colorectal, endoscopy, gastroenterology, ophthalmology, orthopaedic, gynaecology, IVF, plastics, vascular and urology, as well as diagnostic and interventional cardiology and high dependency services. WPHs facilities include four Operating Theatres, CSSD, Day Stay Unit, Day Oncology Unit, Overnight Ward for Medical, Surgical, CCU & HDU patients, Cardiac Catheter Laboratory, Specialist Consulting Suites, PET Centre and are supported by pathology, pharmacy, radiology and radiation therapy services. About the Role We are seeking applications for a motivated and innovative Clinical Nurse Educator in Perioperative Services to advance best practice and educational outcomes and assist in the development of a growing team and expanding unit. The position is responsible for facilitating and supporting perioperative services staff, through preceptorship, mentoring and orientation, with their educational requirements, by promoting continuing professional development. As the champion of education, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, facilitating and evaluating learning activities including orientation, competency assessments, structured trainee programs, in-service programs; providing support to achieve compliance with mandatory education and competencies; supporting staff in skills development and career progression within the Unit; undertaking audits and participating in quality program activities; development and review of department specific documents (including policies/procedures/safe work procedures/competencies/learning packages. This position is permanent part-time with a minimum of 45 hours per fortnight, with a degree of flexibility in hours and days worked to be decided together with the Perioperative Services Manager. The classification for this position is 4B ($121,151- gross per annum, pro-rata for part-time) exclusive of penalties & allowances
Super and 3.5% yearly increases as per Western Private Hospital Nurses Enterprise Agreement 2023. Selection Criteria Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse, Division 1 Extensive experience within Perioperative Services with associated demonstrated advanced clinical practice and knowledge in all theatre specialties. Scrub/Scout specialty highly desirable. Postgraduate qualification in Perioperative Nursing &/or education qualification or similar Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment (desirable) Previous experience in an education role advantageous Commitment to self-improvement and staff development across all proficiency levels including Graduate Nurses, new staff and Post Graduate participants Demonstrated ability to provide clinical and educational support to staff in both formal and informal environment and be able to support the delivery of innovative and contemporary education programs in consultation and collaboration with the Perioperative Services Manager and other hospital educators Proven people and communication skills including relationship building, cooperation, conflict resolution, influencing others and facilitating open discussions Ability to drive culture, encompassing a person-centred focus, adaptability, respecting diversity, innovative thinking, application of evidence into practice, and self-management Solid understanding of the principles of patient centred care and be able to role model and support the delivery of patient, evidenced based practice in nursing Must have a degree of flexibility to work varying days/hours to meet the operational needs of the hospital and to participate in a rotating roster Act as positive model and leader in the unit, facilitating individual and team growth and development and proven ability to lead portfolio work and engage staff effectively and consult with doctors to ensure the best practice and patient outcomes are achieved Working knowledge of ANZCA, ACORN, RiskMan (or similar) and NSQHS Standards Some benefits of working at WPH include: Fantastic people and inclusive workplace culture with supportive management Enjoy time off during our Xmas/New Year close down period Close proximity to public transport and subsidised car parking Access to a range of health & well-being initiatives, staff discounts and benefits inc. access to confidential counselling services through our EAP for personal and professional support; discounts for physiotherapy/myotherapy/massage services & hospitalisation fees Requirements: Everyone who joins Western Private Hospital – Must be vaccinated against COVID-19, have yearly Influenza and provide proof of immunisation against, or immunity to, infectious diseases as required per the Health Services Act 1988 (Vic) – NOTE: for this role immunisation requirements associated with Risk Category A (direct contact with blood or body substances) Must provide a National Police Check conducted within the previous 6 months, a Working With Children Check and evidence of Australian Residency / Full Working Rights (No Sponsorship available) APPLICATIONS CLOSING DATE: 16th July 2025 (or earlier if position is filled) If this appeals to you, this rare opportunity is not to be missed Apply now … Submit your application via
