Overview
Ballina Shire Council is seeking a qualified Plant Operator - Specialist (backhoe) to support civil construction teams, with a focus on water and wastewater infrastructure.
Responsibilities
* Operate a backhoe and other machinery as required in civil construction and maintenance tasks, including pipe laying and construction, repair and maintenance of essential infrastructure.
* Perform a range of labouring duties as needed by section functions.
* Contribute to the construction, maintenance and repair of water and wastewater infrastructure (pipelines, manholes, storage tanks, valve pits and small sewer pump stations).
* Use pipe lasers and dumpy levels as part of the role.
* Demonstrate safe work practices and align with Council values: creative, accessible, respect, energetic and safe.
To be successful you will bring
* High level competence in operating a backhoe in civil construction/maintenance.
* Experience with water and wastewater infrastructure construction, maintenance and repair.
* Knowledge of pipe lasers and dumpy levels.
* Ability to perform physical labour and operate other machinery as needed.
* Strong oral and written communication skills.

* Salary range: $61,300 to $70,300 per annum plus 12% superannuation, dependent on skills, experience and qualifications.
