Overview
Hydrographic Surveyor – Port of Brisbane. Join the team responsible for safe navigation of commercial vessels transiting 90 km of channels, river reaches and berths surrounding the Port of Brisbane. You will install, calibrate, operate and maintain hydrographic and metocean equipment on the Port's dedicated survey vessels and support the dredging fleet as required. You will also support external clients on challenging projects along the Queensland coast. You will produce and distribute survey deliverables to PBPL's stakeholders and participate in the project management of external survey projects.
Qualifications
* Degree in surveying or a related discipline; experience in dredging and port surveying preferred.
* Certified Professional Hydrographic Surveyor (CPHS) Level 1 or 2 (or willingness to pursue).
* Extensive knowledge of hydrographic surveying software such as QPS, Caris, Applanix POSPAC, MicroStation.
* Experience operating Reson, Norbit and Kongsberg Multibeam systems and Applanix POS‐MV.
* Proficiency in mobilising, installing, testing, calibrating hydrographic and metocean equipment and in processing and interpreting bathymetric data.
* Computer literacy with sensor‐equipment integration; Python coding desirable.
* Trailer boat launching experience and a medium rigid endorsement desirable.
* Effective communication skills and ability to work independently and in a team.
* Willingness to work away from home as required.
* Valid driver's licence and ability to complete pre‐employment checks.
