Position Information
Curran Public School is located on Dharawal Country in the suburb of Macquarie Fields. The school forms part of the Connected Communities Strategy, with an enrolment of 277 students (27% Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander). We celebrate multicultural diversity with 58% of students having a Language Background Other Than English and 160 students identified as learning English as an Additional Language or Dialect. An opportunity exists to collaborate with leadership to design co‑teaching, assessment and reporting processes to maximise the outcomes for EAL/D learners. Specific Selection Criteria
* Approval to teach primary English as an Additional Language or Dialect or currently enrolled in an approved qualification for teaching English as an additional language or dialect primary as recognised by the NSW Department of Education.
* Strong organisational and collaborative skills to work with teachers to assess, plan, and implement effective differentiated programs for EAL/D and New Arrival students.
* Expertly use the EAL/D Progressions and embed strategies into daily practice while building staff capacity to improve EAL/D learners' English proficiency.
* Capacity to support the dialect learning needs of Aboriginal students and commitment to the Department of Education's Aboriginal Education policy.
Conditions
An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
Special Notes
If applicable, engagement will be temporary until successful completion of the Teacher Careers qualifications as recognised by the NSW Department of Education which must be completed within 12 months.
